Nokia launches Multi SIM Card

Lately the phone with two SIM slots or RUIM many in the market of Indonesia. The author is generally a local vendor, whose products are designed and manufactured in China. Even now the trend has been to 3 even 4 card slots inside a cellular phone.

Nokia, one of the world's major mobile phone manufacturers finally were moved to jump into that market. Rather than simply following the trend or confiscate the fortune of local producers who had already been struggling in a multi SIM segment, Nokia taken this step after getting feedback from their users.

"One big part of our strategy is working on billions of other users, and market opportunities in the mobile industry that has more than one SIM slot is huge," said Lukman Susetyo, Head of Marketing at Nokia Indonesia in Jakarta, July 15, 2011.

Lukman said Nokia may seem late compared with other manufacturers in presenting a dual SIM mobile phone. However, Lukman claims, is actually not the case.

"Before we present the product, we are always doing research and listening to feedback from users," said Lukman. "And from our research, current users tended to have more than one operator card. For that, we try to meet their needs, "he said.

There are two models of multi-SIM mobile phone provided that the Finnish producer in the Indonesian market. Both phones are Nokia X1-01 and C2-00. Both phones is the first product of the line Nokia phones Swap.

Samsung Electronics largest smartphone

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd will become the world's largest smartphone maker this quarter, overtaking struggling Nokia Oyj which has lead the market since 1996, Nomura said on Monday.

Nokia looks set to relinquish its smartphone crown to Samsung and Apple," Nomura analysts said in a research note. Research firms Gartner and Canalys both said they saw Nokia -- which created the smartphone market with its 1996 launch of the Communicator model -- losing smartphone volume leadership later this year.

Overall, Nokia still makes more cellphones than Samsung due to its strong position in basic cellphones and its wider distribution network in emerging countries.

RIM will launch Blackberry PlayBook tablet computer

The proposal from Northwest and Ethical, which holds more than half a million RIM shares, calls on the company to split the roles and amend its bylaws to ensure the chair is an independent board member, RIM said in a regulatory filing on Friday.

RIM said on Friday it will launch its PlayBook tablet computer -- its attempt to compete with the iPad -- outside North America within the next 30 days.

The PlayBook launched to some troubling reviews in the United States and Canada in April, amid complaints that the company had rushed the gadget to market.

RIM, based in Waterloo, Ontario, said the PlayBook will soon hit shelves in Britain, France, Germany, Australia, the United Arab Emirates and India, among other countries.

RIM gave neither pricing nor exact dates for the PlayBook launch beyond North America.

RIM has already disappointed investors by slashing sales and earnings forecasts soon after revealing a weak earnings outlook.

A class action lawsuit filed last month claims RIM misled investors by not disclosing that product delays would hurt earnings.

Northwest and Ethical's Walker said the fund would have raised its concerns regardless of RIM's recent troubles.

RIM reports first-quarter earnings next Thursday after markets close and holds its annual meeting in Waterloo on July 12.

The company called on shareholders to vote against the resolution, saying independent board member John Richardson already acts as the de facto head of the board.
