Nokia, one of the world's major mobile phone manufacturers finally were moved to jump into that market. Rather than simply following the trend or confiscate the fortune of local producers who had already been struggling in a multi SIM segment, Nokia taken this step after getting feedback from their users.
"One big part of our strategy is working on billions of other users, and market opportunities in the mobile industry that has more than one SIM slot is huge," said Lukman Susetyo, Head of Marketing at Nokia Indonesia in Jakarta, July 15, 2011.
Lukman said Nokia may seem late compared with other manufacturers in presenting a dual SIM mobile phone. However, Lukman claims, is actually not the case.
"Before we present the product, we are always doing research and listening to feedback from users," said Lukman. "And from our research, current users tended to have more than one operator card. For that, we try to meet their needs, "he said.
There are two models of multi-SIM mobile phone provided that the Finnish producer in the Indonesian market. Both phones are Nokia X1-01 and C2-00. Both phones is the first product of the line Nokia phones Swap.
Market Product Manager Nokia Indonesia, dual SIM in both phones are designed to facilitate users. For example the SIM card manager feature that lets users set up a special SIM card which is used for telephone or SMS, and SIM card which is used for data, or vice versa.
The second SIM card is also inserted through a slot in the side of the phone. Thus, users can directly install or remove the SIM card without turning the phone off first. SIM card is installed is also immediately detected and can be used (plug and play).
X1-01 in Indonesia which is a dual standby music phone available in the price of Rp375 thousand. The X2-00 which rely more on productivity features marketed at a price of Rp575 thousand. Both were already present in early July 2011. Interestingly, the user can choose any cellular operator that he wanted to take advantage of this phone
